Not all Gothams have Batman as a protector. Some of them have quite the opposite. It's taken about six years, give or take Nexus time discrepancies (they have no meaning!), but Tim Drake has persevered through the eldritch destruction his city by the Crimson King, retcon ripples, alternates, a corrupted Batman, multiple ebola attacks, and the knowledge that he will never be the Robin he had seen and grew to know through the Nexus. For a very long time, he questioned his own worth and purpose, whether the most he could hope for was to be an example of what not to do as a Robin; but somewhere along the line, for better or for worse, that changed.
